Biography
Ulysses S. Grant, the quiet general who won the Civil War, was a man of unshakeable resolve. As President, he was tasked with the monumental challenge of Reconstruction. He championed and signed the 15th Amendment, which barred racial discrimination in voting, and he courageously used federal power to crush the Ku Klux Klan. Grant was a man of action who understood that victory on the battlefield was meaningless without justice for all, and he fought to enforce the new constitutional amendments.
